All Aboard campaign eyed revival of Aiken depot
The All Aboard plan envisions a two story Aiken Railroad Depot on the original site with a ground floor for gatherings and a mezzanine diorama of the Charleston to Hamburg line. A baggage building would host dining cars for events, a widow’s walk offers park views, and phase two could add a fountain band stand and playground at Gyles Park. Public and private funding, including local option sales tax revenue and about 70 000 from donors, backs architectural work and car purchases.
