Remembering Dr James F Kauffman Aiken educator and coach
James F Kauffman, Distinguished Professor Emeritus at USC Aiken, guided student teaching placements and supported athletics, including coaching the baseball team in 1977 78 and advancing women's sports. He died December 17 leaving a legacy in the academy lifelong learning fund and a USC Aiken Hall of Fame induction in 2016. Memorial gifts benefit the James F Kauffman USCA Baseball Scholarship Fund centered in Aiken South Carolina.

Hazen valued for service on Aiken County School Board
Richard Drake Hazen, longtime School Board member and financial adviser, helped fund athletic facility upgrades across seven high schools and oversaw district annuity creation for the superintendent. He contributed to projects funded by the 2014 one percent sales tax and served via advisory roles beyond the board. Hazen died Wednesday. memorial service today at South Aiken Presbyterian Church. Marine Corps to hold three hearings at Parris Island in hazing cases
The Marine Corps announced January hearings at Quantico for three Marines linked to hazing investigations at Parris Island. Staff Sgt. Matthew Bacchus and Sgt. Riley Gress face charges including cruelty and maltreatment and false statements, with a third unidentified Marine to appear at an Article 32 hearing. All proceedings will be public.
