Coalition raises 200K to aid Afghan Kabul Zoo
United States and European zoos and citizens have raised over 202000 in cash and pledges to aid Kabul Zoo in Afghanistan. The funds cover monthly operating costs and feeding, with a plan for expert visits and repairs to support staff and animals through the coming months. The effort is led by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association and the North Carolina Zoological Park, with World Society for the Protection of Animals also contributing.
