Langley landfill gains new system and gate controls
The Langley landfill upgrades include a new collection system costing about 114000 funded from revenue sharing and a gatehouse to direct trucks. Alex Cord, hired as Refuse Collection Disposal Manager, oversees operations with two workers covering the garbage hole before 5 pm. A rate system is planned for March to charge commercial garbage collectors based on truck size and load, aiming for the site to operate like a self-sustaining utility. Cord, a 36 year old former Baltimore construction supervisor, was hired in October at about 776 per month and resides in North Augusta.
