The North Augusta City Council meets December 18 at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Building to discuss amendments to the City Code, illuminated street signs, and removing Revco Road and Pittman Court from the state highway system. A study session precedes the meeting by one hour.
The South Carolina Bluebird Society in Aiken launches its inaugural Conservation Series. Signed 5 by 7 prints and four-stamp blocks go on sale to support bluebird habitat work. Mary Ann Brock created the eastern bluebird artwork, with proceeds funding nest box trails and nesting data collection. Prints sold at Birds & Butterflies in Aiken.
The Aiken County Public Library hosts Partners in Friendship from 3 to 4 30 p m offering an elementary Italian language and culture course for adults or teens. Christmas in Hopelands runs 6 to 9 30 p m on Dec 9 10 14 23 and 26 with free admission and parking at Citizens Park. Aiken Women In Black hold a Vigil for Peace 4 to 5 30 p m on Whiskey Road across from The Fresh Market. The nonpartisan vigils meet on the first and third Monday each month. All are welcome.
Today neighbors are urged to join a nonpartisan gathering at Hitchcock Drive in front of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Call Brenda or Lynn for details. Christmas in Hollands opens Tuesday evening with free admission at Citizens Park and a Christmas concert at St John’s United Methodist Church featuring the Aiken Singers and Mountain Dulcimers with a goodwill offering for Children’s Place.
