Wintery blast knocks out power across Aiken county
A winter storm left south side residents without power for 10 to 12 hours as snow sleet and gusty winds toppled poles. Utilities crews from SCE&G and Aiken Electric Co-Operative worked through the day with more than 1 000 customers affected briefly. Trees fell and traffic disrupted as forecast cold and rain linger into Tuesday with temperatures near freezing and a drop to the low 20s at night.
