AAUW seeks a large unoccupied facility with ample parking to host its six week Book N Things fair. The Feb 29 and March 1, 2008 event needs space for 50 000 books and funds 60 percent back to the community with two local college scholarships planned. Habitat and Congress build mother daughter Christmas home
Shaquana Isaac and her daughter Asia receive a Habitat for Humanity home in Aiken County built with the Congress Building America program. The 66th house completed since the program began, the project began in late August and aimed for a Christmas finish, with Isaac contributing 200 sweat equity hours. A surprise Christmas tree gift from Congressman Barrett capped the dedication as Santa aided by local fire chief Sprawls delivered the tree.

Renowned wildlife host Jack Hanna will attend a February 13 meet and greet at a private Edgefield residence to support All God's Creatures, a Johnston rescue, with tickets 150 per person or 250 per couple and auctions to raise funds for a new shelter.
