A 72 year old former Aiken County man, Jan Russell Thompson of Azle Texas, is jailed on four counts of lewd act on a child under 14 four counts of exposure of private parts and two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Investigators say three victims have come forward with abuse spanning 1996 to 2004 with one victim reporting in 2007. The case involves acts in front of girls across multiple states and remains under investigation.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced at a public meeting that the MOX facility contractor Shaw Areva MOX Services LLC had zero areas needing improvement for work from Oct 16, 2006, to Sept 30, 2008. Attendees noted rebars not meeting MOX specs, but NRC said none were installed improperly and action was taken.
