Sertomans Install Hearing Loop at Etherredge Center
The Aiken Sertoma Club funded and installed an inductive hearing loop at the Etherredge Center USC Aiken. Three thousand feet of copper wire and an amplifier were embedded in the floor enabling T coil equipped hearing aids to hear clear sound with no background noise. The project cost about 20000 pounds and was donated by the Aiken Sertoma Club. Active Life Hearing Loops of Greenville installed the system with USCA English professor Dr Vicki Collins and Langley and Joshua Postoon assisting. Three years earlier the club donated a hearing loop to the Aiken Community Playhouse.

Teen charged with murder moved to detention center
Rayquan McCorkle now 17 and five other teens are charged in the November 2016 murder of 15-year-old Jordan Shores in Aiken County. McCorkle, extradited to the Aiken County detention center, was initially charged as a juvenile but later ordered to be charged as an adult.
