Indian freighter crew abandons ship off Oregon coast
Seventy crew members aboard the 500 foot freighter Jalamaram abandoned ship 700 miles off the Oregon coast after it began flooding and rolling in high winds. One unidentified crewman died aboard the rescuing vessel. The ship sank around 1 30 a.m. after sending a distress signal about a flooded No 2 hold.
