Rep. L. Mendel Rivers of South Carolina has left his University Hospital room to sit in a chair as he recovers from open heart surgery. The 65 year old chairman of the House Armed Services Committee underwent valve replacement last Friday and is reported to be recovering normally.

January Draft Call for 100 or Below Numbers

Bomb hits U.S. billet hotel in Saigon downtown
A bomb ripped through three floors of the Le Qui Don hotel in central Saigon injuring two American officers and two Vietnamese as dining crowds avoided the blast. Sgt.
