Murder charge dismissed against Dr Jack Kevorkian
District Judge Gerald McNally threw out a first degree murder charge in the June 4 death of Janet Adkins, ruling Michigan has no law against death by own action or assisting it. The device remains barred by a temporary court order, and a civil case will decide if that order becomes permanent. Kevorkian, 62, maintains he was acting to aid a terminally ill patient and says a rational system is needed.
