Christmas party lights up Aiken with poinsettia tree
The Quadrille Dance Club hosted a Christmas dance at the Jaycee Hut as 500 red poinsettias crowned a white-topped tree built by Cathy Coward with help from her father Frank Sampson. Rain failed to dampen spirits as members and guests danced to beach music. Notables included Quadrille leaders and many members plus their spouses.

Christmas Dance at Fermata Club Joyful Aiken Social Event
Sixty couples from Aiken and nearby youth, mostly seventh to ninth graders, enjoyed a festive Christmas dance at the Fermata Club with long dresses, coats and ties, punch and cake, a candyland scene, photo keepsakes, and a pizza after party. Debutante Susan Beattie celebrated with a Columbia tea hosted by her godmothers. Two Aiken garden clubs, Country Gardeners and Sunshine Garden Club, held a joint Christmas meeting at Chinaberry, marking the clubs’ 14 year evolution. The Garnett family spent Thanksgiving in Washington, visiting friends and reconnecting with former Arkenites Marshall and Ann Cain.
