Bike lanes to stay for now on Hayne Avenue
The City of Aiken will retain the white lines separating a bike lane from the motorist lane on Hayne Avenue for now. Residents worried they and visitors will lose curbside parking and risk tickets, since parking in a bike lane is prohibited. The lane markings began after a 2023 contract with Harper Line Striping Inc. and total about 23000 dollars. The plan aligns with the 2021 County Urbanized Area Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and funds from Capital Project Sales Tax round two, with continued review by City Council.
