Elevator to Return at Aiken Library by Early January
Patrons at the Aiken County Library on Chesterfield Street may see its elevator back in service by early January. Library director Mary Jo Dawson says progress is steady after repairs and upgrades since October, with Elevator & Mobility Systems Inc. handling the project. The building dates to 1891 on one side and 1914 on the other, and the elevator was installed during a 1990 refurbishment.
