Geminid meteor shower lights up Aiken skies
Sky watchers in Aiken can expect a peak of the Geminid meteor shower Thursday and Friday. Experts note dozens to hundreds of meteors may streak across the night sky if weather cooperates. The meteors are thought to originate from a near Earth asteroid, with some debate on whether a shattered comet. Viewing best away from city lights in the early morning hours as the peak nears midday Friday.
