South Carolina economy seen growing in 2018 forecasts
USC analysts project 2018 growth of about 2 percent in jobs with unemployment near 3.6 percent, aided by higher labor force participation and a 4.3 percent rise in personal income. Manufacturing and professional services led 2017 gains in metro areas including Augusta, Greenville, Columbia, Charleston and Myrtle Beach, with construction easing after 2016 highs. The forecast was unveiled at the Economic Outlook Conference in Columbia on December 8 with over 200 attendees.

DOE extends SRR contract at Savannah River Site
The Department of Energy plans a contract extension for Savannah River Remediation to May 31, 2018, keeping SRR in place during a Government Accountability Office review.
