USC Aiken opens pedestrian bridge linking campuses
The USC Aiken pedestrian bridge connects east campus to residence halls classrooms the Student Activities Center and library with the west campus Convocation Center athletic fields across the Robert M Bell Parkway. Chancellor Dr Sandra Jordan praised the cross campus link and said a formal opening would occur in early 2017 with safe passage for students faculty staff and guests in the interim. Preparation began in spring and the prefabricated span was placed by crane in July.

Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia seeks Jason Arlis Johnson, 37, on charges including child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. The alleged acts with a 15 year old occurred from June to December while the victim, a runaway and friend of Johnson’s daughter, remains at large. Investigators are actively searching for him.

Belvedere man charged with indecent exposure
Belvedere resident Nicholas Day, 23, was arrested after North Augusta police say he exposed himself in a front yard while a woman picked up her child from school. Day appeared to have no underwear, seemed under the influence, and was sweating heavily before being detained. bond and attorney status were not clear.
