Chaos at Chalmette contest despite parental prize grab

In Chalmette Louisiana a Cutest Kid in the World pageant ended with parents storming the stage and grabbing prizes. Promoter Ann Berry said rowdies demanded refunds and fled with cameras watches a computer and a cash box. She fainted during the chaos and the six foot trophy disappeared amid the melee.

Evacuation At Savannah River Plant After Fumes From Halon Test

About 2,000 workers at the Savannah River Plant were evacuated from the S-Area construction site after fumes from a halon fire suppression test spread near an incinerator. Four workers were overcome and treated. no radioactive materials were involved. Du Pont toxicology experts advised oxygen therapy and the Emergency Center was activated.

New Industry In Aiken To Employ 130 Workers

Trans 10 Technologies of Aiken will build a 60 000 square foot plant on five acres at U.S. 1 and I-20 in North Aiken near the City Industrial Park. The smokeless modular building designer plans to hire about 130 local workers by year end with first hires in February and full operation by March.
