Budget talks loom as Moore cites 1980-81 money needs
State Senator Thomas L. Moore said the next legislative session will hinge on the appropriations bill. He noted a 1.9 billion dollar budget for 1980-81 with a 176 million increase, a 31 million shortfall in federal revenue, and calls for a 7 percent across the board cut. He warned of revenue shortfalls if tax receipts fall and reserve funds are dipped, and urged new highway funding sources beyond gasoline taxes. Moore listed reapportionment and automobile liability insurance as other major issues. The Aiken Rotary Club event included remarks at the Ramada Inn and introductions by Marshall Cain.
