Abbeville standoff remembered ten years on
On the ten year anniversary of a major Abbeville firefight the home where Arthur Bixby Rita and Steven Bixby stood off officers remains a bullet scarred relic. The family fought to keep land from a highway project, five lane road now finished. The property was sold at tax auction in 2012 but the buyer’s name is unreleased by Abbeville County officials. The former sheriff Charles Goodwin recalls the case and its lasting impact.
