ATC students to get more lottery funds

Aiken Technical College students receiving South Carolina Lottery Tuition Assistance Program grants will see a $48 increase for the Spring 2008 semester, from $864 to $912 for SC residents not eligible for federal aid. Part-time students gain $4 per credit hour, from $72 to $76.

McCain to make two stops in Aiken

Republican presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain will visit Aiken County with two stops on Monday December 10 starting 11 45 a m at Al s family restaurant in North Augusta followed by a 2 p m policy speech at the Center for Hydrogen Research near the Savannah River Site The event underscores his energy and environment stance and support for green technology including nuclear energy and cap and trade.

Junior Leadership Aiken Class Of 2008 Leaders Named

Twenty one ninth and eighth graders from nine Aiken area schools were chosen for the Junior Leadership Aiken Class of 2008. The program includes team building, a service project, and exposure to local leaders, with a graduation at each year’s end. Participants include students from South Aiken High Aiken Middle School Aiken High School Mead Hall Kennedy Middle School and others.

Winter Fest at South Carolina State Museum Begins December 15

The South Carolina State Museum will open Winter Fest on Saturday December 15 with the Jack Frost Jubilee from 11 am to 4 pm. The event features student performances, Santa carriage rides, crafts, and more as the festival runs through Sunday December 30. A Winter Day Camp December 17-21 costs 15 per day for the public and 10 for Friends of the State Museum.
