Trauma wards get faster lifesaving tech across the nation
At Baltimore’s Shock Trauma Center and other facilities, portable ultrasound and 16-slice CT scanners speed internal bleeding detection and injuries assessment. Doctors say quicker imaging lowers ER mortality, with examples from a 15-year-old shot in a drive-by and a 17-year-old saved after aorta tear. Smaller centers gain access to rapid imaging, while battlefield care also benefits from portable CT and advanced bandages.
