MOUNTAIN LAKE Minn AP Santa will be getting gifts this Christmas instead of giving them. Pupils at Mountain Lake Elementary are making donations to help pay Elmer Buller's medical expenses. Buller has played Santa in the community for at least 20 years. He was burned over 25 percent of his body on Nov 21 when he slipped into a pit of burning coals at Balzer Manufacturing where he is a custodian. Buller, 60, is in intensive care at St Paul Ramsey Medical Center in St Paul.

Activist's Ashes Return to Union Followers

Washington AP report notes the ashes of union legend Joe Hill are back with his heirs after 73 years. Brian Myers of the Industrial Workers of the World holds them in a safe as the group seeks a fitting disposal. The National Archives transferred the ashes in November from a file seized by federal agents at a Chicago post office.
