Ford In Indonesia Briefly

President Ford arrived in Jakarta for a 19 hour stay viewed by the U S as pivotal to Southeast Asian stability after Indochina's communist victory. Suharto greeted the Fords at the airport with a 21 gun salute, a rain sheltered platform, 400 honor guards, and 400 journalists as police and troops kept the public out.

Richardson Seen As Likely Commerce Secretary Choice

After hours of praise and questioning the Senate Commerce Committee is expected to approve Elliot L. Richardson for a fourth Cabinet post. If confirmed he would move from ambassador to Great Britain to secretary of commerce after previously heading Health, Education and Welfare, Defense and the Justice Department. Richardson also said he agrees with Rogers Morton on keeping Arab boycott participant names private.

House Agrees On Busing Bar

The House approved a Senate plan to bar HEW from ordering desegregation busing beyond the nearest school. The vote was 260 to 146, with a separate 259 to 133 bid to soften the rule. Flood urged against altering law by an appropriation bill amendment.

Senate Appropriations Committee orders the Army Corps to modify the Trotters Shoals Savannah River project to meet Governor Edwards objections. It approves 6.6 million dollars for the Richard B. Special Court Term Set for Aiken December 15

Aiken will host a special one week general sessions criminal term beginning December 15 with Judge George Bell Timmerman Jr of Spartanburg presiding. The docket covers traffic violations for second and above offenders and assorted assault and battery cases. No murder trials or drug cases scheduled.

Jobless Rate Falls to 8.3 Percent in November

Unemployment declined from 8.6 to 8.3 percent with 7.7 million out of work, while total employment held at 85.3 million and the labor force shrank to 93 million.
