Sales tax progress outlined for Aiken County schools
Larry Wood reports that as of June 2017 the 1 percent sales tax approved in 2014 provided about 4 million in tax relief to property owners in Aiken County. The 2.8 mill reduction cut 11.20 per 100 000 for primary homes and 16.80 for rental properties, with projections to rise to about 3 mills. Since March 2015 the tax generated nearly 40.5 million for five district projects including Leavelle Mc Campbell Middle School Graniteville North Augusta High Aiken High and ongoing improvements at North Augusta High.
