The Aiken Newcomers Club meets Tuesday at Houndslake Country Club with registration at 10 a.m. a business meeting at 10 30 and a Christmas music program by the Wow Song Birds at 10 45. Lunch is 10 50 with reservations required and a phone contact provided.
Readers are invited to share historic photos of Aiken County landmarks and people for display. Submission forms are at the Aiken Standard office or on its website, with PDFs available for download. Area 4 and Area 5 Advisory Councils meet today at 6 p.m. in their offices and Silver Bluff High School library to hear appeals and discuss local issues. The Aiken Marine Corps League meets at 7 p.m. at the council building with a welcome home for Joe Laurenza. Community events include Carols in the Park at Calhoun Park 6 to 8 p.m. and a series of arts and charity happenings around Aiken County with multiple organizers and venues local to Aiken.
