Aiken district adopts own accountability program in 1995
In 1995 the Aiken County School District began an internal accountability program ahead of state action. Superintendent Linda Eldridge arrived that year and staff developed school improvement focused on academics. By 1996-97 curriculum standards were being implemented and in 1998 the state approved the accountability program.
