A cooling trend is expected this weekend with a slight chance of rain. Highs in the 60s are forecast for Aiken tomorrow. Sunday to Tuesday call for partly cloudy skies with highs around 60 and 50s early in the work week. Lows range from mid to high 40s.

The Cross case followed the surrender of French Canadian terrorists who held him for two months and sought asylum in Cuba.
The Boston Herald Traveler reports an admiral and two other Coast Guard officers are relieved of duty while investigating the denial of asylum to a Lithuanian sailor aboard a Coast Guard cutter during Navy 23. Capt. John W. Hume is named acting commandant, with Capt. Fletcher W. Brown and Cmdr. Ralph W. Eustis identified as relieved.
AP report from Copenhagen says Prince Christian 25 will marry Anne Dorthey Maltoff Nielsen a department store salesgirl and daughter of a Copenhagen business executive. Engagement announced Thursday by Prince Knud.
White House spokesman Ronald L. Ziegler says J. Edgar Hoover will remain director of the FBI despite his age. Hoover, who has led the bureau since 1924, will be 76 on January 1.
Humboldt Tennessee Novelist Jesse Hill Ford is bound over for grand jury action on a homicide charge in the death of Pvt. George H. Doakes. Judge Marion H. Holmes kept Ford’s bail at 20000 after a preliminary hearing. Ford said he fired a rifle shot in his driveway on November 16 but did not intend to hit anyone.
The Soviet Union names Nikita F. Tolubeyev to replace Alexander A. Soldatov as ambassador to Cuba Tass reports. Soldatov, a longtime diplomat and former envoy to Britain, is reassigned to unspecified duties after serving since 1941.
