Audit cites flaws in South Carolina disabilities care system
A 80 page Legislative Audit Council report finds the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs under protects vulnerable children and adults. It cites poor follow up on safety violations weak credential checks inadequate reference reviews and mismanagement of client funds. The audit requests stronger fingerprint checks tighter controls on consumer funds and better follow up on licensing issues. It notes only 671,917 of 10.5 million allocated for autism therapy 2007 2008 spent and warns of continuing funding risks amid budget cuts.

Cleared trooper sues for legal fees in Greenville County
