DSS killing lawsuit against Aiken DSS dismissed
A lawsuit filed by Margaret J. Riddle against the Aiken County Department of Social Services and two unnamed social workers over the Sept 16 1996 shooting at the DSS office in North Augusta has been dismissed at the plaintiff’s lawyer request. The suit claimed negligence for failing to warn James Riddle and two other social workers of potential danger. The shooter, David Mark Hill, is awaiting trial with the death penalty sought by Solicitor Barbara Morgan.
