Kirby disputed receiving $500 claiming only $400, with other $100 documented but not yet paid. Brodie urged fiscal restraint and accountability, urging officials to set a proper example for taxpayers.
In a tense 4-3 vote the Aiken County Board of Commissioners refused to endorse a 190000 bid from the Hospital Corporation of America for county hospital equipment. HCA plans to purchase items to open the hospital on schedule while officials discuss next steps and public concerns persist.
Fund drives by the Salvation Army and the Aiken Jaycees reach 1386.06 with the Salvation Army at 1020.50 and the Jaycees at 345.56. They aid needy families including one in Aiken County awaiting Christmas help and plan a December 20 shopping tour for children, with donations requested to P O Box 707 in Aiken South Carolina.
