U S District Judge Richard Gergel again postponed Dylann Roofs federal trial over the Emanuel AME Church massacre as defense reviews thousands of pages of evidence. A Justice Department committee will likely decide on the death penalty by year end, with a further three months for a formal ruling. Inmate duo charged after prison nurse hostage standoff
Two South Carolina inmates serving life for murder were charged with first degree assault and hostage taking after a seven hour standoff at Kirkland Correctional. Eric Tessner and Wesley Floyd used makeshift knives to seize two nurses. one was released six hours in, the other rescued an hour later.
