Powerhouse storm dumps snow and ice across plains to Great Lakes
A major storm dropped up to two feet of snow in the southern Rockies and spread ice and slush across the Plains. Dozens of fatalities were reported in weather-related accidents during the Thanksgiving weekend as wind chills reached extreme lows in Montana and the Dakotas. Forecasters warned of blizzard conditions in parts of Nebraska and South Dakota while Minnesota and Wisconsin expected heavy drifting snow and widespread road closures. Wind gusts topped 83 mph at Guadalupe Pass in Texas.
