Four Hunters Rescued After 27 Hour Forest Slog near Cowden Plantation
Four men from Belvedere and Aiken were found safe near Cowden Plantation after a 27 hour ordeal in Cracker Neck forest. Belvedere-North Augusta Rescue Squad and families searched with aid from the Forest Service as heavy rain fell and temperatures cooled. The men, employed by Abitibi Southern, became lost while following a marked trail and kept returning to the Savannah River before deciding to stay with the water.
