Aiken High defeated South Aiken 28-2 in a big Friday game. Replay airs Monday at 7 p.m. on Atlantic Broadband channel 95 for fans seeking highlights and bragging rights.

A second suspect, Brandon Shane Walls, 18, of Jackson, was arrested on two counts of arson and burglary tied to fires at an abandoned home on Fairlane Street in New Ellenton. He is alleged co conspirator with Brandon W Smith, a former New Ellenton firefighter charged with multiple arson counts. Walls is jailed in Aiken County.

Joyce K. Hornaday of Asheboro North Carolina died following an illness. The funeral service will be held at a local church with burial at a nearby cemetery. She is survived by family members and friends.
Cartoonist Lynn Johnston pens the final chapter of the Patterson family strip ending nearly 30 years of new comics. Beginning Monday she will launch new runs retelling from an archive of over 10,000 panels. The Aiken Standard will continue printing the strip as part of its comics lineup while reviewing readers’ feedback.
