A deputy stabbed while serving an eviction notice at a Clearwater mobile home was treated and released. The suspect, shot twice by a second deputy using a Taser, remains hospitalized with two gunshot wounds. Officials note a magistrate had ordered the eviction and assisted the deputies.
A Belvedere resident, Grace Whaley, returned to her home at Audubon Circle to find it destroyed by a Thursday afternoon fire. About 32 cats 15 birds and two other animals perished, with investigators treating the blaze as non arson but awaiting its exact cause. Animal Control had previously assisted with her large animal population and ongoing complaints, and several survivors remained under care as officers continued cleanup and inquiry.
