Zeke Brock died Monday at University Hospital in Augusta. He resided at 116 Northgate and had owned Brock's Auto Repair. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Corbett officiating. Burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park. He was born in Stevens County, Ga., son of the late Dave and Mary Brock, and was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow Ann Rakin Brock and a daughter Peggy, plus a stepson Paul.

Ms. Hall reported the May 1 to August 8 Summer Concert Series drew an average of 487 attendees per show, with 1 650 at the July 3 U S Marine Corps Band event in Hopeland Gardens. The Arboretum Committee plans tree labeling and a new arboretum trail plus marked trees at the H C Weeks Activities Center as part of city plant projects.

Graniteville Nixes Augusta Toll-Free Dialing Plan
Graniteville residents rejected toll-free access to Georgia despite a PSC vote. A poll of 1,183 Southern Bell customers showed 69 percent favored extended area service, sparked by Midland Valley Homeowner Association members in 1993. The plan would not reduce monthly bills by 9.52 dollars for Graniteville residents, as Georgia PSC did not deem the service necessary for Augusta.
