SC agency warns DOE over Savannah River Site penalties
South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control threatens to fine the U.S. Department of Energy more than 150 million dollars for missed milestones at the Savannah River Site. Director Catherine Templeton cites agreements on Salt Waste Processing Facility startup by Oct 31 2015 and high level waste treatment by 2028. fines would begin retroactively from Sept 30 2011 at 105 000 dollars per day.
