Residents can donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Association via a weekend fund drive by firefighters and a Labor Day event at Riverview Park North Augusta. The 2 9 p m program features entertainers and leaders urging donations with proceeds supporting MDA.
Local offices, banks, post office, and public schools will close on Monday for Labor Day. Garbage pickups shift by one day, libraries and bookmobile closed, and newspaper deliveries continue though the Aiken Standard office is closed.
Donated funds will fund research at the Medical College of Georgia and clinics, aid St. Joseph Hospital groups, and help CSRA residents with wheelchair and leg brace purchases. The live show airs 9 p.m. Sunday to 6:30 p.m. Monday on CBS.
