County Considers Calendar Day Hold for Strays
Aiken County Council debated changing the stray hold period at the county animal shelter from five business days to five calendar days. County Attorney Jim Helly noted state law lacks clarity on day counting, while County Administrator Clay Killian supports the calendar approach to shorten shelter stays and aid adoptions. The ordinance received first reading at the August 21 meeting.
