Second victim identified in five identified doubles homicide
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton announced Shalamar N. Byrd 38 of Augusta was the second burned body found Aug 11 near Storm Branch Road. A fingerprint match and DNA tests confirmed identity. Byrd previously faced Georgia burglary and theft convictions. The elder victim Yana P. Schenker 75 was found dead in her Paddocks Bend home after a separate fire. No motive or suspect named.
