Man in DUI Stop Found With Rifles and Drugs
Richard Horace Sharp, 34, of Graniteville Whaley Pond Road, faced DUI, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, third degree assault and battery, and damage to county property after being found asleep in a running vehicle with a rifle and a shotgun on Ascanga Lake Road. He resisted detention, tearing a officer's uniform, and a search uncovered cocaine, drug paraphernalia, a pistol and two firearms. A breath test at the jail gave .14 BAC. Sharp had a valid concealed weapons permit and was later released from the Aiken County detention center.

An unknown woman shoplifted about 80 dollars of merchandise on Richland Avenue Tuesday. A burglary on Greenville Street involved missing copper wiring. An air conditioner was stolen from York Street, and a vehicle was broken into on Sumter Street. A 69-year-old Beech Island woman reported fraud totaling 900 dollars. A North Augusta man was detained for disorderly conduct after being found on Dogwood Drive near Elton Avenue. He showed intoxication and smelled of alcohol on Ridgemont Drive. Sunglasses were reported missing by the owner.
