Tobacco sales to minors fall to near all time lows nationwide
Federal state inspections show the rate of tobacco sales to underage buyers dropped from about 40 percent in 1997 to 9.1 percent in the last fiscal year. The program, named for late Rep. Synar, aims to keep rates below 20 percent or risk funding loss. In Albuquerque two New Mexico counties will issue marriage licenses to same sex couples after a judge deeming gay marriage legal.
