Officials Probe Death Of Nine Month Old Girl In North Augusta
Aiken County coroner Sue Townsend expected an autopsy report today to determine the cause of death of Jessica Hackett, nine months old, in North Augusta. Authorities, including DSS and the State Law Enforcement Division, are investigating with the infant’s parents, Christy and Todd Hackett, monitored by DSS. The coroner noted bruising around the eyes and possible head injuries, while stressing withholding comment out of sensitivity to the family. Investigators say the death is the fourth such case in three years involving a child in the area.
