Prosecutor Steps Aside From Murdaugh Murder Case
Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone has recused from prosecuting cases tied to the SLED probe of the June 7 killings of Paul Murdaugh and his mother Maggie at the hunting compound. He notified Attorney General Alan Wilson on August 11 and said he asked Wilson to assume all prosecutorial functions in the matter.

Suspect arrested in June gas station shooting and chase
James Paul Spann 34 was charged with attempted murder and evading police after a June 2 shooting at the Lucky 7 gas station on Hampton Avenue Northwest. Investigators linked a suspect vehicle on June 7 and Spann was later arrested. Janambre Fuewell 21 faced charges for a separate June 18 shooting with weapons offenses.
