Judge overturns 1984 rape murder conviction in DNA ruling
In Detroit, Judge Leonard Townsend freed Eddie Joe Lloyd after DNA tests proved he could not have killed 16 year old Icnette Jackson in 1988. Lloyd, who had confessed while in a mental hospital, thanked the court and spoke of running with his grandfather.
