In Columbia reporters describe a student petition at the University of South Carolina challenging the two-dormitory visitation rule for opposite sex guests. Kevin Beach, an electrical engineering freshman from Walterboro, leads the petition arguing the policy is too harsh and blocks mothers and sisters from visiting. Fewer than 30 of about 470 students in the two dorms signed up to live there. the policy, adopted last spring, followed urging from state Rep. Michael Fair who argues open visitation promotes promiscuity.

Mechanic critically injured at O'Hare as jet rolls over wheel
Hope Lewellen a 71 year old Continental Airlines mechanic from Orland Park was struck and run over by a taxiing Boeing 767 at O'Hare. She suffered severe leg injuries and remained in critical condition after surgery at Lutheran General Hospital. Police said the jet was moving backward when she leaned to pick up earphones dropped from her head.

New York Couple Linked To Cartel
Roslyn New York a couple was arrested at their Roslyn Heights home on Long Island accused of money laundering and conspiracy for moving nearly 350 million to the Medellin drug cartel. John Posada 28 of Medellin Colombia and wife Deysi 26 of Venezuela held without bail. An infant thought to be their child was taken into custody. Four million dollars in cash and a money counting device were seized. No drugs were found.

Education Funds Could Total 400000 for Aiken County

Voyager Finds More Rings and Tiny Moonlets at Neptune
