Aiken County to See New Malls and Shopping Centers Rise

Construction of the Aiken Mall and two Wyatt Development centers in Aiken County progresses on schedule. The Aiken Mall aims for fall 1989 completion with three department store anchors and space for additional shops. Edgewood Square in North Augusta plans a fall opening with Wal-Mart, Goody’s, Bi Lo, Friedman's Jewelers, Movie Land Video, and Your Choice and eleven leasing spaces remaining. Fire Crews Battle Blazes Across Five States

Authorities ordered evacuations for communities in Oregon and Montana as wildfires grew near towns while Yellowstone fire crews prepared for a new flare up threatening a hotel complex. Income Gains Driven July Spending Slowdown in USA

The Commerce Department reports personal incomes rose 0.6 percent in July matching June, offset by a $9 billion drop in farm subsidies.
