Desmond Bates 18 faces armed robbery and firearm related charges in connection with an April 23 robbery of an elderly man and his daughter on Abbeville Avenue. Bates also linked to a May 23 disturbance at Aiken High School. Eugene Simmons III 17 faces related charges.
Aiken Electric Cooperative hosted its first Bustin Clays for United Way at the Palmetto Shooting Complex Edgefield on July 29 with shooters from nearby counties. Former Clemson players Danforth and Diggs won the Clemson versus Carolina shoot-off against USC veterans Lawrence and Taylor. Over $5,000 was raised for United Way of Edgefield County and Aiken Electric’s Operation Round Up program.
Antonio Collier, 32, is charged with murder and firearm offenses in Richmond County Georgia for a July 11 homicide on Rosier Road. He was arrested at 7:20 a.m. Thursday on Ashmore Drive Beech Island and is jailed in Aiken County pending extradition.
